Welcome to Split Ends!

It has been a full year since i’ve posted to the blog. The last post being my salon mixtape for the new year in 2024. I am head-over-heels to finally show you what i’ve been working on in the meantime.

I would love to introduce you to the shiny new Splitends.co!

As I was writing and working on the blog the last few years, I found myself having a lot of fun and it became a cathartic creative outlet for me. My only issue is that it felt a little clinical. I wanted the blog to have more heart and soul; to be more of a community and cultural presence, as opposed to strictly educational and, well, blog-y.

I took a step back to work on how to bring other unique voices and perspectives to the blog and breathe new life into this passion project of mine, and with the start of the new year I’m so proud to present to you what i’ve been working on.

Firstly, the name change. I removed my own personal website and name (jeffvhair.com) because something about the blog being under my name just didn’t feel right, it almost felt too clinical or professional. Also, if i’m honest, I think its a little corny to put your name on EVERYTHING you make. With the help of some friends and family, I came up with Split ends. Its fun, interesting, edgy, and not too serious. All things I want the blog to embody.

The content of the blog is still very much hair-centric, in regards to education, media, and products. The salon playlists and zines have been the most fun i’ve had in making content, and that is more of the energy i’d like to bring to the table. In addition, there will be a larger emphasis on the culture around hair, hair styling, and aesthetics in general. I’m proud to say i’ve gathered some incredibly talented artists and writers to contribute to the blog, so you wont be hearing from just me! Some of my friends, clients, and fellow stylist will be sharing their hair experiences; from testimonials, to hair care routines, to childhood memories.

I would love to give a special shout out to my dear friend, Haliegh Hoff, who did an incredible job redesigning the blog. I did not need to give her much explanation, and she churned out the most perfect logo, mood boards, color theme, and graphics. It was a massive help in not only getting the blog back off the ground, but in matching the exact vision moving forward.

All of my previous blog posts are still accessible here on Splitends.co.

Please be sure to sign up for the upcoming monthly newsletter to keep up with whats to come!

If anyone reading this has any interest in contributing to the blog please feel free to reach out. I would love to hear from any and all of you, and add more unique voices sharing their hair experiences.
